And then another infamous year writing the prose and planning layouts for the ultra-deluxe and ultra-limited 60-page hardback 2xCD release. The album interleaves between pitch-perfect second and third wave black metal anthems [mixing doses of Paysage D’Hiver with hints of Dissection] and professionally-acted and sound designed interludes tracing the story of Willem Barentsz – an ill-fated Dutch explorer from the late 16th century. Barentsz’s exploits took him three times to the Arctic north to discover a Northeast passage only to succumb to the grim realities of neverending winter and scurvy. The album traces the steps of his final fatal voyage. An intense release for a debut album!
