Description
Grey Aura – the incredible one-of-a-kind Dutch black metal unit. Waerachtighe beschryvinghe van drie seylagien ter werelt noyt soo vreemt ghehoort is not only the longest and most insane album title I’ve ever heard (descending from olde Dutch) but is also one of the best most conceptual and epic debut records I’ve ever come across. Taking the form of an hour-and-a-half double-disc black metal audio play the band spent nearly three years meticulously writing planning and recording their massive initial entry into the black metal oeuvre. And then another infamous year writing the prose and planning layouts for the ultra-deluxe and ultra-limited 60-page hardback 2xCD release. The album interleaves between pitch-perfect second and third wave black metal anthems [mixing doses of Paysage D’Hiver with hints of Dissection] and professionally-acted and sound designed interludes tracing the story of Willem Barentsz – an ill-fated Dutch explorer from the late 16th century. Barentsz’s exploits took him three times to the Arctic north to discover a Northeast passage only to succumb to the grim realities of neverending winter and scurvy. The album traces the steps of his final fatal voyage. An intense release for a debut album! Due to the massive expense of bringing this material to life: the physical record will be limited to a one-time printing of 300 copies only in a 2xCD hardback foil-stamped book featuring 60 page of newly-written English prose brand-new drawings photos and lyrics.
